Skyview School Parent Volunteer Service Job Bank Positions 2008-2009 Job Bank positions are available to families interested in specific yearlong jobs. These positions have an annual hourly value, and many of these jobs allow a family to completely fulfill their annual volunteer commitment. In order to receive the hourly award value, job tasks must be completed in a regular and timely manner. The hourly credit for each position is listed after the job title. If a person is listed below the job, it is filled. All positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with priority given to families who adequately performed the same job last year. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you wish to fill a job bank position. Job bank volunteer positions may be added as areas of needed become identified. If you notice an area of need and wish to recommend a new position, submit a job description to the Director or the Operations Manager. Board Member (50 hours credit) Chrissy Shumaker- filled___________ Responsibilities: Attendance at regular board meetings Committee work as needed Active participation and knowledge in policies, programs, and issues for responsible Community building Fiscal oversight and fundraising governance Note: Board membership is for particularly dedicated individuals who have demonstrated past service to Skyview School and who are willing to participate in governing the school through compliance with the state charter, fiduciary oversight, and membership on appropriate committees. Interested parents must have been at or affiliated with Skyview School for a minimum of one year, have completed their volunteer hours during each year at Skyview School, and have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. The Board is a self-perpetuating Board. This means that the Board members nominate qualified persons with particular skills to serve on the Board. For this position, please discuss your interest with the Board President or the Director.Celebrations Assistant (2 positions) (25 hours credit) ______________ ______________ Responsibilities: 3 Planning for on-going celebrations Getting volunteers to assist with the gatherings Procuring celebration supplies Supervising set up and striking of the gathering Financial oversight with fees, purchases, etc. Note: This person works closely with the Director and Operations Manager Communications Outreach Coordinator (50 hours credit) OPEN_____________________ Responsibilities: Updating the database for alumni, friends, and donors Assembling and mailing communications to these groups (Skylines, fundraising requests, invitations) Dismissal Assistant (50 hours credit) OPEN______________________ Responsibilities: Daily assistance with dismissal, Mondays through Thursdays (2:55 PM - 3:15 PM) Escort children to office for late pick-up Note: This person helps the staff members on duty. Can be divided up by day for partial credit hours. Hearing Screening (2 positions: screener and assistant) (50 hours credit each) Mike Frost (screener)- filled____ Heather Miller (aide) - filled Responsibilities: Screening students for hearing (as per state guidelines) Entry of screening data Note: Official training is required and provided for state certification. The training must be completed within the first month of school. (Does not apply to assistant position) Intermediate Fieldtrip Planning Contact (50 hours) Open__________________ Responsibilities: Fieldtrip planning research 4 Making fieldtrip reservations Reservation confirmations Grounds Maintenance Shahana Turpin- filled Responsibilities: Weed whacking in Gazebo Courtyard monthly during growing season.Hand watering and maintaining plant beds at entrance Pruning elm fence line quarterly Lost & Found Coordinator (25 hours) Roxanne Ronca- filled Responsibilities:Up keeping lost & found weekly Placing lost items on the fence monthly for students to claim Laundering and taking unclaimed items to Good Will quarterly Lunch Clean Up (50 hours) OPEN Responsibilities: Cleaning and sanitizing dining area picnic tables after lunch or at the end of the school day Maintaining picnic tables in an orderly layout Cleaning garbage cans quarterly 7th Grade Math Assistant (50 hours) OPEN Responsibilities: Assistance with checking 7th grade math homework every Wednesday evening and returning journals to school Thursday morning Middle School Fieldtrip Phone Communicator (30 hours) OPEN Responsibilities: Direct phone contact to parents regarding fieldtrip information and needs Pizza Coordinator & Assistant (50 hours each) Heather Miller- filled___ Chrissy Shumaker- filled Responsibilities: 5 Collect weekly or quarterly pizza orders Order and pick-up Thursday pizza Serve Thursday pizza, 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM Playground Monitor (50 hours) Salli Maxwell-Trott- filled for Tuesdays OPEN- Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays Responsibilities: Daily assistance with playground oversight during lunch recess, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM May include oversee and teach organized playground games Note: Partial hours are available for separate day coverage. Primary Fieldtrip Coordinator (30 hours) OPEN__________________ Responsibilities: Planning trips Securing chaperones Collecting permission slips and fees Contacting parents as needed Public Relations (50 hours) OPEN_________________ Responsibilities: Regular outreach coverage of Skyview School events Writing and dissemination of press releases and public service announcements Contact with media contacts to secure media coverage Photographic coverage of events Other media relations as needed Note: This person must have experience as a writer and possess a highly professional manner. Purchasing Agent (50 hours) OPEN __ Responsibilities: Oversees office and related classroom purchases Weekly contact with office to secure purchase needs Weekly shopping for supplies 6 Shed & Storage Upkeep / Maintenance (25 hours) Sandra West-Hankins- filled Responsibilities: Initial organization of sheds and storage behind theatre; removal of unused items, etc.Bi-weekly maintenance and clean-up Sick Bed Upkeep (30 hours) JeNi McKay - filled Responsibilities: Weekly laundering sheets Thursday Communications Coordinator (50 hours credit) Jesse Gonzales- filled_____ Responsibilities: Weekly assembling of communications on Thursday mornings Photocopying and collating all materials Distributing materials to each classroom Volunteer Coordinator Assistant (50 hours credit) ________ Responsibilities: Assist Volunteer Coordinator with the oversight the assignment of volunteer positions Kindergarten Pencil Sharpener for both Kindergartens (50 hours each) Trinity (Janet’s classroom)- filled OPEN Responsibilities: 2 hour once every 2 weeks, to sharpen the pencils for both Kindergartens Kindergarten Library Chaperones (3 people needed) for Emeline’s class (50 hours each) OPEN OPEN OPEN Responsibilities: Chaperones for weekly library trips – Thursdays from 1-3 pm, beginning September 4th. (2 hours per week). 7 Kindergarten Library Chaperones (3 people needed) for Janet’s class (50 hours each) OPEN OPEN OPEN Responsibilities: Chaperones for weekly library trips – Tuesdays from 1– 3 pm, beginning September 2nd. (2 hours per week). Kindergarten Playground Maintenance (30 hours) OPEN Responsibilities: Yard maintenance for the Kindergarten Playground (raking, weeding, trash clean-up, etc.) |
